My name is Melissa, I am a native of New Jersey but I am currently living in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
There are always foreigners here in Kaohsiung. What constitutes a 'foreigner' is anyone not native of this beautiful city. Many of these foreigners have similar questions: Where should I go to eat? Where is there a good doctor? Where can I buy....?
I have big ears and I like to explore. I have been known to know Kaohsiung better then Taiwanese living here. I try to visit every corner, and I love to see new places.
To the weary foreigner, food may seem weird. I want to help you find the right foods with a hanyu pinyin guide on how to pronounce,as most Taiwanese shop owners cannot speak English. I'll tell you what to eat and what not to, and where to go to eat good versions.
I can help you find good doctors, honest mechanics, and the best place to buy good shoes, and the best place to buy cheap shoes! I'll let you know when I come across a new place that I find wonderful or where the service is good. My aim is to add a new post at least once a week, and I hope to help you adjust to life in Kaohsiung as well as I can, no matter how long your stay may be.
Please feel free to use any information to help make your stay is this wonderful city more relaxing/ fun/ social.
Yours,
Kaohsiung Girl
